Jury’s statement: “A.L. Kennedy’s novels and stories are profound and daring and are among the most artistically important works of contemporary literature. She has received many accolades for this, including the Austrian State Prize for European Literature. At the same time, A.L. Kennedy is not afraid to regularly raise her voice against intolerance, exclusion and injustice, and to warn that the lack of humanity goes hand in hand with culture and the disdain for art. Her commitment to a more tolerant world ranges from internationally acclaimed journalistic interventions to working on projects in district centres, prisons or hospitals and is based on the conviction that art and literature can illuminate life and help meet the challenges of our world more emphatically.”
In cooperation with the Association of Austrian Book Trade (HVB), the City of Krems and Glatt&Verkehrt Festival.
