The ceremony for the presentation of the Austrian Book Trade’s Honorary Award for Tolerance in Thought and Action to Miljenko Jergović by HVB President Benedikt Föger. Afterwards, the mayor of the City of Krems invites guests to a reception.

In cooperation with the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade, the City of Krems and Festival Glatt&Verkehrt.

The Austrian Book Trade presents the Honorary Award for Tolerance in Thought and Action to a writer who, through his or her literary work and commitment, has shown tolerance towards neighbours who speak different languages and have different cultures, and who has therefore made a contribution to peaceful coexistence in Europe.

Miodrag Trajkovic	Miljenko Jergović, born 1966 in Sarajevo, is a Bosnian/Herzegovinian and Croatian writer, poet and essayist. He studied philosophy and sociology in Sarajevo and is co-founder of Group 99. Jergović reported for the Zagreb weekly newspaper Nedeljna Dalmacija from besieged Sarajevo, where he was also a television editor. He has lived in Zagreb since 1993 and is a political columnist for various Croatian and international newspapers. His books have been translated into multiple languages and have won numerous awards, recently (together with his German translator Brigitte Döbert) the Georg Dehio Book Prize 2018. 	Lisa Hofmaninger und Judith Schwarz are dedicated to the archetypal form of clashing sounds from the East. Similar to the traditional davul-zurna ensembles, “blowing” and “beating” meet: soprano saxophone and percussion, bass clarinet and slit drum.
	Michael Martens, born 1973, is a German journalist and expert on Eastern Europe. He worked for newspapers in Bishkek, Almaty and Kyiv. He currently works for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
